Doyle+ Partners worked with the site by pushing the lower part of the house into the hill, to ground it in the landscape. The house is designed with living space, kitchen/dining/living rooms on the first floor to take advantage of natural light and views and takes advantage for solar gain as the living space gets natural light all day. The bedrooms etc are on ground floor with allows it to use the natural warmth of the earth to help heat the house. The open sun terrace is orientated to receive sun from midday right through to late evening.
Under the new BER system this will be one of only a handfull of apartment schemes to achieve the much coveted A1 status and will set a benchmark for apartment development.

Construction tender prices have now dropped to levels not seen since the first half of 1999, eleven years ago. The severe contraction in prices reflects the ongoing reduction in activity in all sectors of the construction industry. The shortage of new projects has meant that contractors and sub-contractors continue to tender at cost or below cost in order to secure new work.
Most houses in Ireland at the moment are at an E or F rated standard. Under the new building regulations part L introduced in 2006 substantial reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions are required

Sustainable Feature to be included in house :

Rainwater harvesting

LED Lighting
