The SCS tender index (which is the only independent assessment of construction tender prices in Ireland ) highlights how prices have fallen dramatically since they peaked in the first half of 2007.
Construction tender prices have now dropped to levels not seen since the first half of 1999, eleven years ago. The severe contraction in prices reflects the ongoing reduction in activity in all sectors of the construction industry. The shortage of new projects has meant that contractors and sub-contractors continue to tender at cost or below cost in order to secure new work.
