Further Learning Group – 54 Merrion Square, Dublin 2February 13, 2016
The Further Learning Group is the parent group, currently consisting of the Interior Design Academy of Ireland and the Garden Design Academy of Ireland. They provide quality distance and in-class learning to students across Ireland and internationally.
This project involved a full office design and refurbishment of the existing rundown office space on Merrion Square. Doyle + Partners provided full design, project management and build services on this project.
The design of the houses on Merrion Square is typical of the georgian houses of Dublin and in particular the houses of the Fitzwilliam Estate covering Fitzwilliam Street and Square, Mount Street Upper and Merrion Square. The external visual integrity and uniformity of the Georgian city masks a wealth of variety and decoration that adorns the interiors of these buildings. Many interiors contain magnificent ceiling plasterwork, ornate fireplaces and staircases.
Further learning Groups new Dublin office marries this beautiful craft work and detail with a new brand and building rebirth. The new workplace supports the recent rebranding with a fresh face – a unique, dynamic space.
The CEO mandated an ‘open-plan’ approach to the workspace, driven from the need to encourage more collaboration and real time dialogue within the organisation. To that end, a bench style desk was agreed upon with the ability to consolidate three work spaces into four, in order to support and accommodate future growth.
